Ready to apply for a suite at Hive in Sunnyside?Here are a few helpful tips to make your rental process as easy as possible.

Great, then you can apply now. Your application can be done online and should take less than ten minutes to complete. You will need to set up an account in RentCafe, provide a government-issued identification (i.e. Passport or Driver’s License) and employment information that may include a copy of a recent pay stub or an employment letter. There is no fee ($0) to apply.

Many newcomers to Canada do not yet have local employment, bank account or a social insurance number. That’s ok! Newcomers are welcome to apply, please contact us and a member of our Leasing Team will be happy to assist you. You will need to provide government-issued identification (i.e. Passport), current bank account information and may be asked to pre-pay rent. In some cases, applicants may also benefit from having a “guarantor” to assure rent can be paid for the duration of the lease. There is no fee ($0) to apply.

What Happens After You Apply?

Our team will review your application as quickly as possible. A member of our Leasing Team will contact you to confirm details and review any missing information.

Personal tours can be done with a Leasing Specialist in person or virtually through FaceTime. Please visit hiveyyc.com and start an application (including setting up a RentCafe profile if you do not already have one). Then, you will receive a link to a calendar where you can book a tour at a time that works best for you.

Once your application is pre-approved by a Leasing Specialist an identity and credit check will be processed. There is no fee ($0) for this step. Once those checks are complete, a Lease Agreement will be sent to you via your Rent Café account for your review and signature.

You will be asked to pay a security (damage) deposit after your application is approved. You can pay your deposit through your Rent Café account.

If you are bringing a pet to Hive, you will be asked to review and sign the pet agreement, provide proof of your pet’s vaccination, service animal status (if applicable) and spay/neuter documents. We may also want to meet your pet to ensure they are well-suited to life at Hive.

All residents must provide proof of $1,000,000 personal liability insurance before moving into Hive. Please advise your Leasing Specialist once you have set up your services and be ready to show a copy of your insurance certificate. To set up water service to your rental suite, contact Metergy. For electricity service, sign-up with Enmax. Please advise your Leasing Specialist once you have set up your services.

Consider choosing a fixed-rate plan. Ask your energy provider for more information and stay informed about your energy choices by visiting the Utilities Consumer Advocate website at https://ucahelps.alberta.ca/retailers.aspx.

Your suite may be eligible for discounted internet service through Telus. Be sure to ask your Leasing Specialist for a discount code, if applicable.

What Happens When I Move-In?

Our Leasing Team and on-site professional Property Managers are here for you each step of the way. We will support you with a smooth move-in process, including arranging for an elevator, completing a move-in inspection with you, reviewing how your in-suite appliances work and answering any questions.
